Alfa Laval becomes member of GDA

GDA welcomes the world's leading heat transfer solutions provider as the Association's newest member: Alfa Laval's extensive thermal engineering expertise enables it to open up new opportunities for cost-effective cooling and energy savings in server rooms of all sizes.

Founded in 1883 by Gustav de Laval in Sweden, the company initially focused on the development of mass separators and liquid handling products. For more than 80 years, Aval Laval has also been involved in plate heat exchangers for heat transfer. These systems also play a key role in the cooling and waste heat recovery of data centres.

From the very beginning of digitalisation, Alfa Laval has been part of the solution: whether cooling hyperscalers using seawater, recovering heat to heat entire city districts or using system separators to integrate heat pumps and protect the data centre, the company offers efficient, clean and future-proof energy solutions.

Alfa Laval works closely with partners in the data centre industry to drive the development of greener IT. The company already contributes its expertise cooperatively to the Swedish Data Center Industry Association and the Open Compute Project - and now to the German Datacenter Association.

"As a new member of the GDA, we are looking forward to constructively contributing to finding solutions in the field of data centre cooling and waste heat recovery," says Matthias Feldmann, sales engineer for the DACH region at Alfa Laval and an expert in his company's AHRI 400 performance-certified plate heat exchangers.

"Energy-efficient cooling is one of the levers for greater sustainability in data centres," GDA Board Chair Anna Klaft also knows. "We are pleased to have Alfa Laval as an experienced partner for reliable, environmentally friendly cooling systems for data centres at our side."

Alfa Laval Heat Transfer Forum on 5th May 2022 in Frechen, Germany

Alfa Laval invites all interested parties to expand their practical knowledge of plate heat exchangers at the beginning of May: the practice-oriented Heat Transfer Forum offers details on the technical features of different plate heat exchangers and the opportunity to test a wide variety of makes for yourself in a hands-on workshop. Innovative technologies for optimal, manufacturer-independent reconditioning of plate heat exchangers will be explained, as well as solutions for optimising the equipment during operation in order to avoid unplanned downtimes.

Register free of charge for the event on 5th May at the Alfa Laval Service Center in Frechen near Cologne.
