Not only operators and owners of data centers are welcome to join GDA. The participating industries can also contribute to improving the framework conditions for the digital infrastructure in Germany and Europe. Already since the foundation of GDA in 2018, Standard Aggregatebau (SAB) Evers GmbH & Co. KG has been a loyal partner of the Association. SAB is one of the leading specialists in the production of stationary and mobile generating sets.

SAB - a GDA partner from the very beginning

At the plant locations in Norderstedt and Rostock, the company produces power generators, power plants and switchgears on an area of 40,000 square meters. Since its foundation in 1961, SAB has established itself as one of the leading specialists in the manufacture of stationary and mobile power generators. The company has realized more than 10,000 plants in over 80 countries - projects with power ranges from a few kilowatts to well into the megawatt range.

The generating sets are used wherever an interruption of the power supply could have - sometimes serious - consequences: in medical, public, commercial and municipal facilities, in manufacturing facilities of the industry and in data centers, the backbone of the modern society.

In the majority of data centers, diesel generators still provide the uninterruptible power supply (UPS). But the drive to make digitalization sustainable and further reduce emissions requires a rethink here, too.

"Hydrogen as an energy carrier in combination with electrolyser and fuel cell is a promising option for the future sustainable fuel strategy in the field of decentralized power supply," says Jürgen Pump, sales manager at SAB, "because hydrogen-powered generators are locally emission-free." The advantages of hydrogen as a fuel are obvious: "Produceable from renewable energy, with a high energy density, safe to transport and store, fast to refuel." SAB is now able to offer zero-emission hydrogen-based power generation tailored to individual project needs.
