Since January 2024, Martin Kohoutek has taken over as the General Secretary, leading the Federal Office of the German Datacenter Association e.V. in Frankfurt am Main.

The economic and societal development in Germany is significantly influenced by the degree of digital transformation. At the center of this transformation is a secure, reliable, and sustainable high-performance infrastructure – the data centers in Germany. The German Datacenter Association (GDA) has taken on the task of supporting data centers and immediate partners in their diverse challenges, promoting investments in the economic and innovation location of Germany, and representing industry interests with a strong voice both regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Martin studied political science and international economic law in Germany and China. After completing his studies, he initially worked at the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Thailand before taking on the role of Head of Department at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in East Brandenburg. In this position, he was responsible for communication, organizational development, members/volunteers, and various digitization projects. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Managing Director at the German-Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, where, in addition to representing the interests of the German economy, he advised companies on market entry into Southeast Asia. His extensive experience in the strategic and operational leadership of member organizations is complemented by his qualification as a systemic organizational consultant.

"The economic future of the country also depends on the regulatory framework for existing and future data centers in Germany. Only with a modern infrastructure can there be state-of-the-art digital services for businesses, the government, and individuals. The role and innovation power of the data center industry need to become more visible and audible – especially in Berlin and Brussels. I am therefore very much looking forward to supporting the dialogue between business, politics, science, and society, and to further establishing the GDA."
