Stable networks, powerful cloud solutions and a reliable digital infrastructure have become the backbone of economic and social life in Germany.
GDA's executive board member Prof. Dr. Peter Radgen is conducting research into the potential of sustainable digitisation, in particular into energy and resource-efficient computer centres, at the Institute for Energy Economics and Rational Use of Energy (IER) at the University of Stuttgart. In the recently completed project Sustainable Data Centres (EcoRZ), the researchers have, among other things, drawn up a Guideline for Sustainable Data Centres.
Currently, the team of the University of Stuttgart is collecting experiences of data center operators for its research in a survey to understand the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the operation and future development of data centers.

The university's researchers can derive reliable developments only through a high number of answers.
The questionnaire focuses on Europe, but is addressed to the worldwide community. It takes about 10 minutes to answer the questionnaire.
You can expect 30 questions on the following topics
- General questions
- Data traffic
- Operation of the computer centre
- Communication
- Investments and market
- Hygiene measures
Even if you cannot answer all questions, it is helpful to fill in the questionnaire partially.
All individual answers will be treated completely confidential. No personal data about the respondent is stored. All results are anonymised and aggregated so that they cannot be traced back to individual persons or companies. The results are then published and made available free of charge.
