CMS is one of the world's largest commercial law firms. In Germany, over 750 lawyers, tax advisers and notaries across eight offices develop legally compliant solutions for clients ranging from start-ups and SMEs to large multinational corporations. The lawyers advise on all aspects of commercial law, with a particular focus on complex, regulated sectors such as the data center sector. Developers, operators, hyperscalers, investors and financiers benefit from in-depth expertise in real estate, planning and licensing, energy, financing, taxes, and structuring.
The focus is on the legally compliant planning and development of data centers – from site selection and energy supply to compliance with regulatory requirements and security specifications. The international orientation enables legally compliant and efficient support for projects both in Germany and worldwide.
Data centres are the backbone of the digital economy – and at the same time highly regulated infrastructures. Our goal is to support innovation in this area with well-thought-out and robust solutions. From real estate, planning and energy law to data (protection) law and IT security to contract drafting and liability issues – those who involve legal expertise at an early stage not only create legal certainty, but also build trust among customers and investors. Through our involvement in the GDA, we have the opportunity to actively shape the legal framework and, together with other stakeholders, set future-proof standards.
