Shaping the digital
futrure together

German Datacenter Association

The German Datacenter Association unites all players in the digital infrastructure value chain across Germany

Our members include operators and owners of data centres of all sizes. With our network of partners, we promote synergies and cooperation across traditional industry boundaries: consulting firms, energy suppliers, technical equipment suppliers and service providers are represented as well as research institutes and municipalities.

Together we are shaping improved framework conditions for the operation of data centres throughout Germany. Also and especially in order to further advance the digitalisation of Germany and to achieve the overarching goal of climate neutrality by 2030.

Improving the framework conditions for digital infrastructures in Germany

Founded in 2018 in Frankfurt am Main, the association offers data centre operators in Germany a platform to jointly strengthen the growth of the industry and improve its perception in business, society and politics. In addition, GDA represents its members in relation to laws, regulations, standards, norms and political issues in the relevant bodies. The declared aim is to sustainably improve the framework conditions for operating data centres in Germany and to increase the investment attractiveness of German locations.

Events & research for the data centre industry

GDA's industry-specific events enable members and interested parties to engage in a qualified exchange on technology and market trends and to expand their own networks. Together with its members and partners, the association develops standards and norms for the design of data centres. GDA also initiates and implements research projects on data centres.

Cooperation with European data centre associations

Through cooperation with its European sister associations in the Netherlands, Denmark and France, GDA also formulates German interests in Europe. Coordinating with European partners makes it easier to achieve common solutions and contributes to strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty.

Collaboration across sectors

As part of the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, GDA actively supports meeting the challenges of the European Green Deal in the digital industry. In joint working groups, initiatives and research projects, GDA and the Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Alliance e.V. focus on making the German data centre market more transparent and sustainable - "sustainable" in the sense of a balance between ecological, economic and social aspects.
