The German government's ambitious goals in the digitalization of the economy, education and public administration, as well as in climate policy, can only be achieved with a high-performance digital infrastructure. Germany has a lot of catching up to do in expanding this infrastructure, and data centers are the cornerstone and foundation of digitalization.

To emphasize this message, the German Datacenter Association has had a contact person for politicians and associations since the beginning of the month: As Head of Public Affairs, Norbert Lemken gives GDA a voice in Berlin and at the state level. Norbert Lemken has been an active networker in political Berlin for more than 20 years and sees himself as a bridge builder between association interests and politics.

"I see my role as representing the multifunctional importance of data centers and digitalization issues in the relevant policy areas and look forward to constructive dialogues," says Norbert Lemken. "We take a holistic approach with the close interlinking of several policy fields. These include the economic importance of data center locations, the opportunities and prospects for waste heat utilization in local and district heating networks, and Germany's digital sovereignty with a high-performance IT infrastructure."
