GDA Net[t]work Lunch at Reinhausen: Strengthening the Digital Infrastructure of the Future

On October 21, 2026, about 50 representatives from the data center industry, the energy sector, industry, and politics gathered in Regensburg for the GDA Net[t]work Lunch at Reinhausen. The focus was on how data centers, energy supply, and digitalization can be further developed together, as well as the prerequisites for a sustainable digital infrastructure.

Technical Insights and Keynotes

The event was opened by Martin Kohoutek (Director General of the German Datacenter Association), who welcomed the guests on behalf of the GDA. Wilfried Breuer (Spokesperson for the Executive Board of Reinhausen GmbH) then highlighted in his keynote the role that innovative technologies can play in ensuring a secure and efficient energy supply.

In his keynote, Dr. Fabian Mehring (Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs) focused on the importance of data centers for Bavaria’s digital future and the prerequisites for sustainable regional development. During a subsequent Q&A session, guests had the opportunity to ask questions and explore specific topics in greater depth.

Discussion and Outlook

The subsequent discussion, moderated by Sebastian Hilmer (Reinhausen), focused on how energy supply, grid infrastructure, and the growing demand for data center capacity can be better coordinated. The panel discussion featured Dr. Manuel Sojer (Reinhausen), Ralf Hönicke (Equinix), Jörg Steins (LEW TelNet GmbH), and Dr.-Ing. Thomas Estermann (Bayernwerk Netz).

Following the technical program, a lunch provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions and personal exchanges. A subsequent factory tour also gave participants the chance to learn about Reinhausen and its technologies firsthand.

Exchange and Networking

Beyond the technical program items, the focus was also on personal interaction. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, forge new connections, and bring together different perspectives on the challenges of digital infrastructure.

The GDA would like to thank all the speakers, panelists, and guests who enriched the event with their perspectives, as well as the Team of Reinhausen for their hospitality!
